Dance Classes
Our dance school offers a huge selection of classes to suit various ages, grades, and abilities.
RAD BALLET
Ballet classes help to develop correct everyday posture, improving balance and coordination. At SDA we proudly follow the RAD syllabus (Royal Acadamy of Dance)
ISTD MODERN THEATRE
Modern dance is often seen on the stages of musical productions and is known for its theatrical qualities. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps and turns which all need strength and flexibility. This is a highly energetic dance style.
ISTD TAP
Tap Dance is an exciting, percussive, rhythmical dance form. The dancer uses their feet to strike the floor, beating out a melody, with tap shoes which have small metal plates on the toe and heel to give the distinctive sound. Tap dance is a theatrical art form often seen on screen and stage in musicals.
JAZZ
Jazz is a fun class where students get to learn different routines each week, as well as explore new styles. This helps hugely with retention skills.
POINTE WORK
The RAD syllabus introduces pointe work at inter foundation level. We usually introduce Pointe to children ages 12 or above, depending on the students capabilitys.
MUSICAL THEATRE
Sundays are for Musical Theatre. This includes drama and performance classes where students work on improvisation skills and script work, as well as group singing classes to work on harmonising.
LIMBERING AND BODY CON
The stretch classes allow your dancer to warm up and practice new stretches right before our technique classes, We safely work on flexabilty as well and strengthening which is beneficial both to their overall skill and enhances their performance in the technique classes.
1 to 1 TUITION
In private lessons students can work on solos for dance competitions or practice syllabus work in preparation for exams.
